Gammage Outings

It's been a while since I last blogged, but I'm finally sitting around and not supposed to do anything, so here goes! I've always been interested in musicals, but never actually been to one. So this year Becky has opened my eyes to them. For Christmas we bought tickets to 5 plays at Gammage:

So far we've seen Spring Awakening, The Lion King, and Rent, and we're definitely looking forward to Stomp and Wicked.

Spring Awakening:
This one has an awesome soundtrack - highly recommended. We had never heard of it before buying the tickets, but the reviews all say it was the Rent of this generation, and it won a bunch of Tony awards, so we figured it had to be good. It did not disappoint.

The Lion King:
I didn't like this one quite as much as Spring Awakening, but the costumes were amazing. It was a bit of a different type of musical, so tough to compare. Had a lot of fun though.

Rent:
This one has been the best by far. We actually got to see the original Mark and Roger, which was awesome. I think Spring Awakening could be as good as Rent with the right cast, but the cast for Rent had much higher intensity - they really played the parts well. After the play I bought Becky a playbill signed by the entire cast.

Stomp is in May, and Wicked in July, so if anyone wants to join us let me know!

Lauren and I got to see Rent the other week. Did you notice that they changed Rogers for the first song of the second act? Lauren doesn't believe me but I swear it happened. I had binoculars.
